Information Technology Manager

As the Information Technology Manager at NexJ Systems you will play a key role in our future cloud build and supporting our current environment. Working directly with all aspects of the business, you have the opportunity to articulate a strategic plan of how NexJ’s technology will be developed and run in a hybrid cloud connected environment, and to lead the digital transformation in support of the organization. You will work closely with various internal teams and external clients when required. You enjoy identifying key issues and engaging directly with stakeholders to identify root causes and innovative solutions. You are passionate about software and technology and its ability to positively influence human behaviour.

Position Purpose: Achieves organization goals by defining, integrating, and upgrading a comprehensive information system architecture and infrastructure; managing IT staff.

Position Duties:

  • Accomplishes information technology human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Achieves information technology operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action/security plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing security audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Meets information technology financial objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Understands information technology requirements by studying organization mission, goals, and business drivers; conferring with executives.
  • Builds commitment to information technology strategy by considering and evaluating different points of view; creating a cohesive argument.
  • Defines enterprise information technology by analyzing information requirements; determining systems architecture, security components, and technologies; studying business operations and user support requirements; managing implementation of infrastructure.
  • Confirms information technology capability and flexibility by developing trouble shooting models; completing validation tests.
  • Improves information technology usefulness by tracking emerging technologies; evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements.
  • Develops and implements training and other plans to promote security throughout the organization;
  • Develops and implements training and other strategies to promote privacy compliance throughout the organization;
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering /Computer Science or equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressive operations management experience
  • Experience in systems design and engineering with a focus on resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions to support corporate and development requirements.
  • Experience managing a team of technical resources to deliver world-class secure infrastructure with industry-leading scalability and resiliency.
  • Proven track record of leading design delivery of large‐scale, high‐quality systems focused on the infrastructure layer of the technology stack
  • Experience mentoring/training resources on complex technical issues
  • Management of department practices, including implementation, revision, and monitoring adherence by department staff.
  • Reviews security and privacy controls and takes corrective action when necessary;
  • Responsible to ensure that IT security policies, procedures, and processes are maintained current through periodic review, and are documented in sufficient detail;
  • Deep hands‐on technical expertise and understanding of network, application and data security best practices.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to team development.
  • Ability to partner and to collaborate with people at all levels - individual engineers, managers, and executives.
  • Strong people management skills

  • Experience with Vmware, Compellent SAN, Cisco/Juniper and Palo Alto a plus.
